With the publication of Volume II, Edizioni Il Salabue enriches the collection “Getting to know Violin making, Unpublished masterpieces from the Lucci-Marchini Archive”. This series was born thanks to an extraordinary family archives, the Lucci-Marchini collection.
This important publishing project, made possible with the help of Raffaaella Lucci and Rodolfo Marchini, was first presented several years ago with the first volume dedicated to the Lazio and Campania regions; the book obtained an immediate success with violin makers, instrument lovers and collectors.
The second volume presents works by great masters of the past of two other very important Italian regions: Lombardy and Piedmont.
Considerable effort was made to put together 53 unpublished masterpieces by masters in Lombardy and Piedmont selected with historic and philological criteria.
For Lombardy, we find instruments by Romeo Antoniazzi, Riccardo Antoniazzi, Leandro Bisiach Senior, Giacomo & Leandro Bisiach, Celeste Farotti, Gaetano Gadda, Ferdinando Garimberti, Giuseppe Ornati, Piero Parravicini, Giuseppe Pedrazzini, Stefano Scarampella, Gaetano Sgarabotto, Giorgio Ullman; for Piedmont, Luigi Azzola, Anselmo Curletto, Annibale Fagnola, Pietro Gallinotti, Giorgio Gatti, Riccardo Genovese, Francesco Guadagnini, Paolo Guadagnini, Evasio Emilio Guerra, Enrico Marchetti, Edoardo Marchetti, Romano Rinaldi Marengo, Plinio Michetti, Arnaldo Morano, Carlo Giuseppe Oddone.
In its elegant editorial presentation, now a trademark of Edizioni Il Salabue, the second volume presents each violin illustrated on 4 pages, with particulars in scale 1:1, comparative tables of heads and effe, sides of the instruments, dimensions, internal details, photos and documents of the period and other details that make this book unique.
